Why drive your laptop to the substation to connect to IED maintenance or configuration ports? With Substation Communicator we bring the IED communication port to you.

Substation Communicator is installed on a Substation PC that is connected to all substation IED configuration and maintenance serial ports. Authorized utility personnel can establish a network connection between their corporate PC and the Substation Communicator PC via a password- protected interface. Once connected, utility personnel can transform any of their local PC Communication Ports into exact replicas of any Substation IED port. Now, Com1 on the back of your PC is the IED Port.

Substation Communicator transfers serial data from the Substation PC's communication ports using encryption through any IP network, and maps it out the communication port of a receiving Corporate PC. The network pipe created between the PCs utilizes soft certificates (128 bit) for encryption. Hardware certificate technology can also be used if required. The transfer mechanism of the encrypted data is transparent to Substation Communicator, as long as it is IP based. As this package is Windows based any valid Microsoft Networking connection including Dialup Networking will work.

With Substation Communicator utility employees can securely access all substation IEDs from their office desktop computer.
